16 GB Ram issue - IMC or Board

Based on the issues I had previously posted and in this posts here or here I am wondering how would you know or determine that it truly is the IMC or the motherboard that is defective?

Basically what I am getting at is how would I know to even go an request and RMA for the board or RAM?

Any guidance would be appreciate thanks.
 
If you are getting errors with some sticks at stock settings, sounds like the RAM is the culprit. (what I gathered from the first thread)

Continue with your corsair RMA, if that doesnt solve it, I would do some tests on the CPU with the RAM that does work.
