16 GB 204 pin DDR3 memory module

I just wanted to know how much these cost. I was hearing a rumor (and it may not even be true of course) that the 2011 MacBook Pro can actually take up to 32 GB of memory as the iMac does.

That isn't even my concern though I just wanted to see where I can find these.

I think they are used for enterprise level stuff, servers and the like. Does the macbook pro have 2 dimm slots or 4?

Yeah I have seen 8 GB Samsung modules though not 16 GB. I heard they only just started mass production though just wanted to see where they were available.

I don't think the link is a 204 pin though at least it's a link to a specific module with cost.

Hopefully Samsung starts marketing 2x8 (16 GB kits) soon for retail.

Why samsung? In Newegg, Crucial, Patriot, Corsair, Geil has the 16gb kit. I ordered the Corsair for $150.

Sorry man, we were just posting ram nonsense. 8gb sticks are available at this link; http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicatio...428&CatId=4153

16gb sodimm's are not in production yet, and if they are it's easily for $500+ each. Depending on your Macbook Pro it may have 4 sodimm slots internally, in which case you can get 2 of those 16gb (8x2) kits and get up to 32gb.

Are you editing video on this MBP?

Ah so they're not in production yet? Interesting. Okay, that solves it.

I prefer Samsung because that's what Apple includes in many computers to begin with as opposed to Patriot or Corsair.

I don't think MBPs have ever had 4 slots have they?

Looks like it's 2 sodimms max. 16gigs is nothing to laugh at though 🙂

Interestingly, if you read all the comments from people that purchased the Patriot or Corsair 16GB kit are Mac owners.

Well after spending a grand on a computer (unless you bought a base model mini), you want to look for ways to save on anything including memory.

Technically I don't need 16 GB let alone 32 GB. Hell I probably don't even need 8 GB even though I like having a lot of free memory just in case.

I just want to stay on top of the best technology available, you know.

That is saving by buying from other brands, not directly from Apple. All the Mac owners that bought the Cosair and Patriot are happy.

Actually I bought the RAM myself and installed it though since the OEM RAM was Samsung, I went to NewEgg and bought Samsung.

I would never buy the RAM through Apple. Although I would have bought the SSD if it wasn't $600.

Apple uses Samsung SSDs, just buy a Samsung 830 for $400. Apple is so god damn expensive :\
