This is completely subjective, but I much prefer 16:10 over 4:3 for general use. You can easily view two documents side by side (type something up in a word processor while reading a pdf, for instance). I'm a lot more productive that way instead of alt tabbing between the two.
16:10 is also better than 16:9 in that respect, since you have more vertical space. It's like having two 8:10 areas, each of which is almost the shape of a page (8.5x11).
The best reason for having a 16:9 monitor is that you can watch 16:9 content without having black bars on the top and bottom.

I have 2 1920 x 1080 monitors. If I need to buy a new one in the future I'd probably go 1920 x 1200. I miss the extra height at times, when viewing photos etc. Not to mention the extra real estate for games and everything else. I like the 1080p resolution, and if you come from a smaller monitor it seems big. But if you have the money go bigger imho.
You're going to have a large percentage of movies showing black bars on either monitor, due to the 2.40:1 that seems to be ever more popular etc.

1080p on an ATi card on a some directx 10 games = underscan to 1080i.
ATi still haven't fixed this problem yet, games like Far cry 2 and bioshock in dx10 can be fixed if you forced 1080p@60 in the HDTV settings but games like Crysis and STALKER = underscan to 1080i.
beware.
Haven't seen that problem and I've run bioshock and crysis at 1080P. Did you confirm that the TV source is 1080i?Originally posted by: RIFLEMAN007
