buy.com also has 25 dollars off for purchases over 250 today also. so that should bring it down to a little over 300 bucks with the rebate and coupon.

I saw on cnet that rad5 has faster pixels .. which means less ghosting in games and multimedia .. Samsung is probably better for business , rad5 for gaming and mm.

<< Which is better, the KDS RAD-5 or this Samsung 570V? >>

Other than how slim these monitors are, I don't see any reason to buy them. The picture quality compared to CRT's is no comparison. We've purchased about five of these Samsung's at my work, and text, to me, doesn't look sharp. It looks kinda blocky. I don't know, maybe I'm just being too anal.

Once a LCD monitor is properly adjusted (at the display's default resolution -- usually 1024 x 768 on a 15" LCD), the text will usually appear sharper than most CRTs. I got in on one of the very old Anandtech deals -- the Proview 15" LCD available from Office Max (thanks NeoV) over a year ago for $299. It's one of the ancient 15" LCDs, and it kicks butt for text sharpness -- AFTER I adjusted it properly.

Something's not set up right. They blow most CRTs out of the water for sharpness and clarity. Be sure you have the machine set to the proper resolution and refresh rate for the monitor. The difference it makes is radical.

I've been looking to buy an LCD monitor for a while now. The best way to judge one is a side-by-side comparison....all displaying the same picture. A local BestBuy usually has four or five different brands going at once....this Samsung 570v always looks the best to me...by far. The reviews I've read back that up. My sister bought a 570s which is the same only it swivels.....it looks great to me. Where can I find an extra $300?
