.

What are you going to use it for (work, gaming, movies)?

What resolution do you want to work at, game at?

What graphics card do you have?

FYI, the Display tab at the top of the page has articles, as does www.TomsHardware.com -- you might learn more than people are willing to type here by Reading The Friendly Articles 🙂

Are you a heavy gamer or no? If so, response time is important, but be aware that manufacturers always exaggerate how good their response time really is. If you are a gamer, what kind of system do you have? If you want to game at 1600x1200 (or 1680x1050 in my case) with one of the 20" LCD's, you need a pretty high-end system to do so.

Also, what is your budget?

Edit: I'm slow. 😛

I don't know what your budget is, but I'll just go ahead and recommend the dell 2001fp, 2005fpw, and the 2405.

The only thing that I use my pc for is to play games and use the net.
Would like to watch movies as well.
Currently have a BFG 6800oc, but will be moving pciE in the near future.

Abit IS7
PC4000 Geil

Best bang for my buck means cheap😉 in the realm of 2-300$

What games specifically?

That's a relatively fast system, so I'd go ahead and recommend either the 2001FP or 2005FPW, depending on whether you'd prefer a widescreen aspect ratio. Since you mentioned watching movies, I'd say the 2005FPW is better. 🙂

Edit: Somehow I totally missed that price target you posted, lol 😛 There have been deals for the 2005FPW as low as $360 or so recently I think, but you really have to keep your eye out for them. I don't really know much specific information about smaller LCD's, so I'll leave those recommendations to others.

Then these are your monitors 🙂
The 2001fp is supposed to scale down to 1204x768 resolution much better than most 19" LCD monitors do (with their 1280x1024 resolution) so you have more flexibility for picking what resolution to game at -- both 1024 and 1280 now, 1600x1200 later when you upgrade to a faster card.

... for $200-300 you might be better off sticking with a CRT for awhile longler since these LCDs are $400-600 still, and many 19" LCDs don't do so well at 1024x768.

Seems ok. Good brand. 8ms Low price.

Wow I may have to buy that🙂

The only con I can see about it is the 350:1 contrast. I don't know if that makes much difference. Maybe someone else here knows more about contrast ratios and can say if that's ok? But other than that it's top notch.

I also don't get what they mean by 350:1 typical, 450:1 max. Do other mfgs. use typ. or max when specifying? If they use max, 450:1 is pretty good.
