YES.

Either USB 2.0 or Firewire will work fine for that.

In most cases you can transplant your drive as is and just read the data as usual once you turn on the external enclosure.

I think the real question is if USB 2.0 has the bandwidth to stream video files from an external enclosure without problems. I'm really not sure.
