.

Yes it will outperform your 9800 Pro, and that particular one comes overclocked already by BFG, but you can usually squeeze some more out of it.

that card has noise issues due to 2 VERY fast spinning fans and dosent cool any better than nvidia reference. go ledtek. p.s. it will be a goo deal faster than 9800pro.

Well noise isnt a big factor for me. Could possibly find an aftermarket cooler for it.

Plus the 6800 series is SLi ready Correct? Perfect for future upgrades?

Well I found a deal on the 6800oc that I just cant pass up. Price/performance wise

SLI is only available on the pci-express version of the nvidia 6x00 cards. The version you linked to is not compatible. The 6800 will not be a huge upgrade from the 9800pro. The 6800GT will be however.

If you are dead set on getting a 6800 why not save some money and go with this

You can use the money you saved to pick up an aftermarket cooler and overclock some more. Overclocking is luck of the draw.

Is the 256mb model better than the 128mb?
Like the leadtek 6800 oc 256mb...

watch out fro 256mb 6800s. they are usually pci-e. you are looking for agp8x interface cards and i think they are all 128mb.(maybe except for a couple overpriced asus cards)

It's not much of an upgrade. If you go from a 9800p to a 6800, you'll probably be upgrading again a year from now, if not earlier. Or you'll be wishing you were 😛.

I would get a 6800gt, that's definitely a much more substantial upgrade. And if you can't afford a 6800gt, then just wait untill next gen cards come out, that way you'll have more options, and the price of the 6800gt will also go down a lot.

What are you talking about. You get almost double performance. It is a huge upgrade. Personally though i would hold onto the 9800Pro for a while until the new cards come out.

An unlocked AGP 6800nu/oc gets really wicked performance at 1024x768/1280x1024. I was able to get up to 10700-11000 3dmark03. However, with only 128mb, the card suffered a lot more at 1600x1200, so I got rid of it and moved up to an X800XL. It depends on what res you're going to be running at.

Unless you're talking about Doom3, I don't see anywhere near the double performance of the 6800 over the 9800p. Look at these benches here on xbitlabs, you can see that it's not as huge of a gain as you would expect, and it's actually slower in some tests. While I agree that overall the 6800 is a better card, it still falls FAR behind the 6800gt when you crank up the resolution and eye candy, so much that you might as well keep the 9800p for now untill you can afford a 6800gt or better.

I loved my Leadtek 6800 - fast, quiet, and cool. It kicked my 9800 Pros but, especially in Far Cry, Doom 3 (wow, 1024 stutters to 1600 goodnes), and even HL2, especially when it came to AA&AF. I had mine OC'ed to 385/800, and while YMMV on that, basically you are getting 4 more pipes (like adding on a 9600 Pro), gaining mem bandwidth, and getting much more powerful pixel shaders to boot. Of course, I just recently dropped too much money on a AGP 6800 Ultra, but since it is an EVGA I may pick up a PCIe socket 754 and do their upgrade program. The jump from my 6800 to my 6800U was AWESOME, just like my jump from 9800 Pro to 6800, so if you have the dough, pony up!

6800s are good cards. They are a little hot headed, but can dish out som serious ownage when it comes to big resolutions with maxxed out options.

I got a Leadtek 6800GT. Don't fret when your temp readings are really high either, nVidia's drivers read high, I switched to the XG drivers, after putting some AS5 in between the GPU and Leadteks huge copper cooler, and it dropped my idle temp by 15*C. It only gets to a couple degrees lower full load, but it instantly drops back down instead of taking 30 minutes.

I'd recommend the switch. BFG makes good stuff, and you can take a whack at unlocking even more pipes to have basically a GT. Even if it doesn't unlock, you can usually push it a little further without many ill effects.

OP didn't mention anything about noise levels.
