I wish someone had taught me how to play poker sometime before then... I blew it mostly on blackjack, poker and pai gow poker.

Wow. What a find.

Several of my friends pretty much did the same thing you did. They moved into a new area and don't know anyone. The people at work aren't the 'hang out' type of people and so they sign up for a community forum or put up a personals on craigslist. So far nothing bad has happened to them but I dunno. I'm still a little wary about the whole thing.

But then again, what's stopping a person you meet in person from making you think he's a gentleman when he is in fact a sleeze.

I meant to earn more with it, not lose it all. :( And, assuming I'd actually won money, I assume I would have returned it, plus interest. It just happens I play like crap when gambling. :(

I can almost imagine this Larry guy posting on here talking about how Nice Guys Finish Last. If I weren't so lazy, I would post a parody thread.

Do your friends have any cool stories? Did they meet any people worth getting to know better/stay friends with? I met some weird people, but also the girl who is now my best female friend in LA online.

Its tough playing on borrowed money. But if he flipped you a single chip, I imagine it didn't mean that much to him. Did it seem like the guy was trying to impress you?

Nice / lucky find for you. Lost rules. ;)

Looking back on things, I really don't think he had any intention of trying to hook up or doing anything sleazy. He acted like a friend the entire time, and didn't even try to hold my hand or hint at anything. I think he was just a rich guy who was bored, just looking for pleasant friendly company on a trip. Not all guys do stuff for the end goal of p00n.

How'd your interview go, Pep?

not bad, but he said they were looking for bilingual people mostly

Ah. Well, are you going to get a second interview or chalk it up as a loss and look elsewhere? Good luck, I'll be in the same boat soon myself.

Not really, he didn't do it lavishly, he just gave it to me and told me to go play. If anything, I think he just wanted to play on his own for awhile and gave me some money to keep me busy while he gambled.

Nothing really panned out as a 'keeper' for them. A couple of dates, etc... If anything, one of my friends did meet her future boyfriend on a forum but he wasn't from the area. He was in fact, Canadian. They did meet in person eventually but that was after chatting with each other for a while.

Look at the examples on here of guys who have to ask "stick your hand out, I'm going to try something". I mean there are lots of guys who can't verbalize their feelings. I wasn't there so obviously I can't really judge. Still, being romantically inclined doesn't mean going for a p00n. Some guys get a kick out of being the chivalrous gentlemen.

hey tomato, how come it seems like you know all these semi famous people?

Is it just a byproduct of living in LA?

I like how you pulled the BF (or in this case, the fiance) card even though he obviously doesn't like you that way. He never tried anything on the Vegas trip. Geez.

What's wrong with that? If I hang out with him again, I'd like him to meet my fiance because my fiance likes meeting/getting to know my friends and vice versa.

Byproduct of living in LA. You see celebs at clubs (Jessica Simpson and her husband, the black guy from Scrubs, superb!tch Tori Spelling, etc.), shopping, etc. And the chance you have of meeting a random one online increases too I guess, I've found most of the semi-famous people I've met are just bored and looking for something new to amuse them.

Boyfriend card meaning what girls do to stop guys on potentially hitting on them.

Hi, my name is Jack.
Hi, Jack, my boyfriend is at the store picking up some juice.
