Like the Title says, I picked up a 152 Opty pretty cheap, Oem chip that was brand new until about 5 hours ago :D

The chip in my Sig has served me Very well, but I found it time to try a different 1. I started out at default voltage, and got to 2800 and change with it. 1.425v got me to 2950, and I just upped it to 1.45v for a highest tried 3004 for now.

I'll run it here for a day or 2, with testing inbetween, it is 1 hour prime stable, small ftt's at 2950 and 1.425v, will test later this evening as to total stability at 3000.(passes memtest test 8, and Super Pi 4m so far, didn't bother with test5 Yet as i know the ram is stable).

Ram is running 1:1 right now, no tweaking there yet. Nice chip so far. I figure if I can keep it stable under 1.5v, ( at a higher clock of course), I may just keep this 1, and sell my 148.

I'd tell you what i paid for it, but it would make you sick :D

Temps at the moment;

Cpu 24c

PWMIC 26c

System 28c ( kinda warm in here tonight ) 27c now

The reason I decided to start a thread on this, is because while I was waiting for this chip to show up, I searched high and low for ANY info as to anyone clocking a 152, and found exactly "1" thread, that was an archive at Overclockers, and believe me, I searched Everywhere.!

I'll update the thread as to how it goes, that is, IF it goes.

Larry

EDIT; I'm at 3060 so far now, 1.475v still testing.** Make that 3107 , still in testing mode.**

I really did Not think the chip would go to far, but so far I am rather pleasantly surprised that it is behaving well :D

Nice results thus far! ::waits for the update::

Saying that it'd make me sick to know what you paid for the processor only makes me want to know even more, hehe...

Well, the actual overclock so far, is certainly nothing to write home about, but I Did expect that. I figure if i get another 100 or 2 out of it I'll be happy. Off to run some tests for overnight. As to price, can we say Less than Half of Monarch/Egg prices? :D

If your 148 can hit 3ghz why not keep it? The 152 will sale for a higher price.

My 148 can do 3200. It's not always about the price, I get bored easily and this helps that :)

Hehe True Dat!

Nice chip, but I am seriously doubting I will be buying AMD any longer since these Intel Conroe previews are out. :)

Well, I have run a Dually in the past, and found that "for me", and the apps I run single core is just fine. I do video encoding,gaming and some light Photochop. For those, I have found No difference in speed,versus the single core.

My dually was a dual xeon 2.4 chips, that i had clocked at a bit over 3800 per, very nice fast system, but my 148 beat it in encoding times :)

Testing is on hold for right now, as it's about 60 out and on the second story here, it just gets too hot in here :( Kinda between a rock and a hard spot when the seasons change here, as it's a tad too warm in here to bench, and the wife would shoot me were I to turn the AC on :D

EDIT;

I think I'll be waiting for AMD's new platform before I upgrade again, I am so sick and tired of changing boards out every time Intel changes a chip, that quite frankly I am not going to do it. Unless Intel comes out with a chip, that will not only serve all my computing needs/ washes the windows in my home, and goes to work for me making more $$ than I do now, then I'll "Think" about it :D

Old thread here :) I ran the Xeons on the NCCH-DL, tho if I ran another dually, it sure wouldn't be on that board again.
