This is on the front page of the latest CC circular. They don't mention how many you can buy, but I figure I'd grab 3, which comes out to 45 discs for 12 bucks, with no rebate hassles.

What do people here think about Philips' quality? I've personally burned about 100 of their DVD+Rs before, for both data and DVD movie backup, and they seem to work nicely enough.

My own experience with Philips DVD blanks hasn't been so good. My movie backups with them contained a lot of freezes and skips (on a Plextor 708A drive). Whereas Riteks in the same time period were flawless. This was over a year ago though, maybe they've improved since then. At this price, I'd certainly be willing to try them again.

Update: Just went out and bought a couple. One reason they're so cheap may be that they are 4x discs, not 8x. I burn my movies at 4x anyway, so no big deal, but maybe the quality is also not as good?

They're dirt cheap though, so I'll probably use them for divx archiving rather than DVD backup.

I thougth someone had already scanned these discs. I picked up a couple of packs last week and scanned the disks and they showed up as CMCs.

I forgot the rest of the info. After using the media identifier program that someone linked in another thread on another site, I found that most of the sale DVD's that I bought were either CMC or Riteks.

Maybe that's why I get some bad burns - unfortunately, I never find out that the burns are bad until after I go to view the DVD archives that I make. OH well, I bought a 100 pack of TY's from another thread and will try to reburn some DVD's to those to see if I get a lower failure rate.

But that's all I had to offer.
