Sold my Amtron 15"LCD for $300 (bought it for same price ) anyways, thinking of getting 19" CRT Monitor, whiich one to get ranging $300.00.....for graphics and games.............. is NEC any good (black)?
In general, CRTs are much better for games than LCDs. I had a pair of Hitachi 19-in flast screen CRTs that were excellent. I replaced them with VX-900 LCDs - but am not a gamer. My main reason was less heat in the computer room. With big CRTs you don't need heat in the winter, but summer A/C needs are high - especially in Arizona.
How big is your desk? Seriously - 19" CRTs are huge. I had a 19" samsung 950p for a year and loved it, but I had no space left to do any work on my desk. Got tired of that and replaced it w/a 15" LCD that I got a deal on this past fall. Much better. And as Corky said, big CRTs put out a lot of heat too, which I didn't like. Then again, I'm not much of a gamer either, so the slightly blurry pics during the occasional times that I do game are worth it to me.
Thanks all, just found me a 17" LCD made by CTX black for $399, just have to spend $100. more, i guess its ok......this thingy really looks good, and ya....my desk is only 3'x2' and it does gives a me a lot of room for other things...........
Tough call.... I sucked it up and bought an 18" Viewsonic VX800 LCD and can't say enough good about! I wonder now why I waited so long. LCD's are way cool, pick up your monitor w/ 1 hand.... I can tell you that a 15" LCD is going to be too small. I have one in my office and it looks very small compared to the monsterous 21" CRT sitting next to it. If it is at all possible, I would get 17" LCD rather than the CRT but, the CRT before a 15" LCD.
