ASUS VivoBook S500CA-US71T Intel Core i7 4GB Memory 500GB HDD+24GB SSD 15.6" Touchscreen Ultrabook Windows 8 64-bit

Free Swissgear laptop backpack w/ purchase, limited 48hr offer.

Intel Core i7 3517U (1.90GHz)
  • 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD + 24GB SSD
  • Intel HD 4000 Graphics
  • 15.6" Touchscreen 1366 x 768
  • Windows 8 64-bit

Seems pretty hot for someone in the market for a nice work laptop. It isn't going to blaze through games but should be a great work/leisure laptop. Only downfall is integrated 4000 graphics and low resolution, which only matters if you plan on playing a bunch of new games and watching hi-res movies. Makes up for it in CPU speed with the i7 and 24GB SSD boot drive, and it's a touchscreen.

Thoughts?

This shows up as $899 for me.

Hot Deals sometimes only last a few hours, and very often do not last more than 1-2 days.

If you see a post from several days ago and the deal does not work for you, it's better to just move on than to bump an expired deal thread just to say it is expired.

The deal came back but it's listed in the "electronics" section, not a frontpage deal thing. I sent mine back because when I tried to reset the PC it couldn't because it didn't have the recovery partition so the laptop was basically bricked :D

I understand how it works...look at my join date. You typically need to change the update the title, thus why I said misleading at best.

That resolution..... I just can't bite with that res. I'll wait until January to pick up some sweet 1080p versions of this from another brand etc. Otherwise pretty good deal!

Yeah, that's what held me back too. I can handle that on an 11.6" touchscreen, but the 15.6" is a little large for that resolution.

Also, there's a really nice app store program for touchscreen-friendly apps called Pokki that came on the last laptop I bought. It's basically "mobile apps for the desktop" - a similar idea to Steam - so you can get stuff like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc. on your touchscreen laptop:
