I have a notebook DVD-ROM, HL-DT-ST (Hitatchi/LG I believe) GDR8082N. When I use DVD+RW data discs, they work fine when I initially insert them, but if I let the drive spin down, it will not spin up again when I try to access the disc and acts as if there is no disc inserted. I have to eject it before it will spin up the disc again. The firmware version is 108 (factory).

I found different ones here (http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmw...y=2&manufactor=16), but it says for IBM Thinkpads only and I have a Dell Inspiron.

EDIT: Took it apart and there's a piece of metal out of place behind the bezel that the drive uses to check if the tray is ejected or not.
