A lot of us are realizing that future graphics cards are dropping Dual Link DVI connectors.

I know there are a lot of us that have overclocked 1440P monitors. Mine is an Overlord IPS with only DL-DVI to minimize input lag.

Can we work as a group to determine if there are adapters that WILL work, or if we need to decide to sell now, or just not upgrade GPUs.

Options:
1) Keep Monitor and Not Upgrade GPUs
2) identify possible new GPU's with DL-DVI
3) Find adaptors like active Displayport to DL-DVI (support over 60hz?) Or rule them out.
4) Realize we have to sell as soon as possible (replace with what?)

In my brief research, Active displayport to DL-DVI are hit or miss and only support up to 2560x1600 (reviewers saying the startech doens't even always do that res). Who knows they may also introduce output lag.

I'm happy with my perfect pixel 90-96hz 1440P IPS. But We need tod ecide if it's time to sell and replace with something else that supports Displayport.

Im in the exact same boat. X-Star DP2710 @ 96hz and don't want to move on from it yet till all the freesync/gsync stuff settles down. In another thread a new member posted how Toasty X linked him to an Accell adapter that some people were able to get enough pixel clock out of it to work but it was spotty and its a $100 adapter.

From what I can see its Nvidia or bust for us. I was really excited about Fury X until I realized this and now am heavily leaning towards grabbing a 980ti. I'll decide on the 24th after the Fury reviews

This is apparently the best one available (toasty X recommended) but even those that went past 60hz apparently the bits per color/pixel are reduced so its a compromised image either way. I think I would be worried about response/lag using this adapter on the overclocked panels anyway.

FWIW here it is - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00856WJH8/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00856WJH8&linkCode=as2&tag=monitortests-20

I don't see nvidia dropping dual link dvi any time soon.

The 980Ti has dvi-I, meaning it still has analog output for crt's.

Me neither, but only because the aren't going to change port config for maxwll and they may be done releasing high end card until Pascal.

It wouldn't be shocking to see them omit DVI on Pascal with 4K being even more commonplace by then. I think the gsync/freesync stuff will be sorted by then so it wouldnt be as much of a blow as it is with Fury not having it.

THe problem still exists, the 980TI may have the pot, but DVI is phasing out, so we addres it now or later. I prefer to be proactive.

All of these displayport adaptors just aren't solid for overclocked monitors :(

Good point....are you going to move on to a G/F sync display and get a Fury?

According to techreport the board partners are not allowed to modify fury X at first, but they will be able to modify the "normal" fury. Some of those will probably have dvi instead of hdmi.
