whoa, never thought i'd see snow covering a cactus

Remember I said anything is possible.

Proves my point right here!

snow on a cactus is not that unusual and not really a big deal. here is a simple question for you mr weather obsession. what is the largest desert in the world? (try to answer that without looking it up online)

antarctica?

yeah it's about damn time. I kept holding off on washing my car because I knew as soon as I did it, it would rain (which is maybe why it went 140+ days without). I wonder how many accidents happened yesterday though, because AZ drivers sure as hell don't know how to drive in the rain.

Cool! My sister lives in Cave Creek, they really need rain. It would have come in handy last year during the Cave Creek Complex fire. My family was out there for a visit then, it was pretty intense.

That kinda defeats alien42's message about snow on cactai being not that unusual. I am pretty sure there are no cactai in Antartica, thouch I have never been there, so I can't say for sure 😛

cactus != desert

desert just means less than so-and-so inches of precipitation a year.

and I think the answer to Alien42's question is indeed Antarctica, or somewhere really cold.

That is the correct answer though, the two polar regions are the top two world deserts (by a huge margin, each is 2/3 again the size of the largest non polar).

Wow, your sarcasm meter is broken 🙂 Desert means < 10 inches of precip a year IIRC. Antartica certainly qualifies. The wording of Alien42's question implied that the biggest desert in the world gets its precip in the form of snow, and it covers cactai.

Man, I was sunbathing is scottsdale 2 months ago!

Does somebody have a really nice snow in scottsdale picture? I want to bring into work.

Argh!! I used to live in Phoenix a looong time ago. Moving down to Los Angeles has changed my life. Maybe it's time for a break, eh?

There were a ton of people playing in the snow up there. People were building snowmen on the top of their cars and then driving home haha. Its supposed to get back up to 76 and sunny by thursdy 😉

Well sure snow is a rare event around there.

Like when when New Orleans got snow during 2004 Christmas Day that was so rare because for it to just snow is rare but for it to snow in New Orleans on Christmas Day as well is amazing.

Though it looks like mother nature was telling a tale of what was about to happen and was trying to be nice before it did by giving us snow before Hurricane Katrina would hit in August 2005!
