XFX Radeon HD6850
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814150573
Core Clock: 775MHz
Effective Memory Clock: 1000MHz (4.0Gbps)
Price: $159.99 - $30MIR + $11.50 shipping = $141.49

XFX Radeon HD6850 XXX Edition

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814150516
Core Clock: 800MHz
Effective Memory Clock: 1050MHz (4.2Gbps)
Price: $169.99 - $30MIR Free Shipping = $139.99

Obviously the XXX Edition of these two, but are there any other in this price range? I think with the $30MIR these are the best I'm going to find for this price...

As a brag, I paid $119.99 for the XXX-edition on a shell-shocker deal for my own computer, so my friend is going to have to pay $20 more for the same card..

NCIX is canada based. Here is the link to the card on the Canadian website. Its a little more at $134.99 but Im not sure of tax or shipping cost in Canada. Its just another option if you'd prefer Nvidia.

I linked you the PowerColor 6850 at $125AR in your thread, it's the cheapest of the bunch.

6850 is easily faster than 550 Ti:

Due to being in Canada, the cheapest GTX460 at newegg.ca is $141.49:

Here's a cheap GTX460, but it only has 768mb Vram, does that matter at 1680x1050?

$134.99 - $35MIR + $8 shipping = $107.99

Yes it matters, the gtx 460 1gb is much better even at 1680x1050. I just sold mine and I game at 1680x1050, it was overall a great card, but if I'd had the 1gb version I would probably still have it.

And I would get a 6850 at that price point btw. It's enough faster than the gtx 460 1gb that it's probably worth about $20 more After reading Techpowerup's 6850 launch article, I'd say that a 1% difference at 1680x1050 is about a wash so get whichever one is cheaper.

Well, a 6850 for $130 with a free game that's probably worth $15-20 is a better deal than $120 for the gtx 460 anyway.

Thanks for the advice guys! Don't feel bad if I didn't heed the advice given, I was looking to see if there was anything that would be good enough to sway me, and luckily and unluckily, nothing made me go "wow!", so I picked up:

XFX Radeon HD6850 XXX Edition
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16814150516
Core Clock: 800MHz
Effective Memory Clock: 1050MHz (4.2Gbps)
Price: $169.99 - $30MIR Free Shipping = $139.99

lehtv:

The Powercolor HD6850 you linked for $125AR does not include shipping, so adding $8 makes it $133, so I prefer the XXX-edition with factory overclock for $7 more.. As well as buying everything from the same place is nice!

But thank you for advice, it did make me certain I know what my options are :)

Lifetime warr. too. Even if you don't hang onto a card more than 2-3 years, it helps resale value.

6850's are typically beastly overclockers, really a great little card IMO. The XFX I have my son's rig easily OC's 25% on the core and 18% memory with just a little extra voltage.

It might if XFX was a decent company. I've used there "Lifetime" warranty service and was pissed off with the result. I returned a OC edition 4890 that would hit 1Ghz no problems and got a normal edition 4870(with stock cooler, my 4890 had a upgraded cooler and VRM cooling) that wouldnt even OC 5%.

OP I wouldnt put ANY faith in lifetime warrant and would base purchase on price only.

I would get either a GTX460 or 6850 whichever i could find cheapest.

overclock it 25% and get 15% better performance, thats a great overclocker?
A gtx 460 @ 900 core will = a 6870 at 975 core, thats saying something!
overclock to overclock a gtx460 will mop the floor with a 6850 overclocked.

Did you try to send it back? I would have sent it back and would have gotten XFX to agree to pay shipping also.

I tried, they wouldnt go for it. They seemed to think performance was close enough between a stock 4870 and a OC 4890. I ended up putting it in the g/f's comp and she doesnt game alot so its not a huge deal but was still dissapointed, i think i'll stick with EVGA from now on for lifetime warranty.
