We've been talking about him on my Facebook weightlifting group...and also how horrible that stream was. Ugh.

The problem is Bo Jackson is the fastest 40 yard dash ever recorded at the NFL combine. He wasn't just fast, he was the fasted. He also wasn't just strong, he was the strongest. Bo Jackson is a mythical creature. And, he did all of that without lifting weights. Hell, he walked on and replaced Marcus Allen (a Hall of Fame RB) without even going through training camp; he played football after the MLB season was finished and missed all the early practices an games, and still excelled beyond belief. This kid isn't the next Bo Jackson; if only because nobody could ever match that.

Yeah, it was only after his injury and surgery that he started to actually work out, and it was just to spite the Royals for cutting him.

I don't know who Bo Jackson is but yeah he sounds like a freak.

Most sprinters will do some form of weight training to increase power, speed and strength. Others may not need to. Bolt doesn't. He has terrible stats in the gym, but that's irrelevant as he is a freak sprinter and no1.

12 YEARS is not considered long standing....hmmm

12yrs is one of the longer US records I believe.

The White Sox gladly picked him up. My mom worked a charity function with him and said he was pretty much the most down to earth celebrity that she ever met. Mailed her a signed poster afterwards to thank her.

Well, maybe not the next Bo Jackson. According to this article, he's only 5-2.

Barry Sanders?

He's also 14. He has time to grow. At 5' 2" he is in the 25th percentile for his age. He will be 5' 8" assuming he stays in the 25th percentile for height. He'll probably end up in the 5' 6" to 5' 10" range somewhere.

Bo Jackson was 6' 1". I always thought he was shorter. Go figure.

Emit Smith was 5' 9" tall.

Barry Sanders was 5' 8"

Bo Jackson was a freak. Like, there are stories about him that seem like they are from a comic book. Even his football injury was some kind of freak event. If his legs hadn't been as strong as they were, he wouldn't have been injured. And, after his hip popped out of socket, he (with his hands) popped it back into place. There are stories of him jumping over cars. His college baseball coach said he was hitting in a cage for a scout and his first hit slammed into one of the poles, knocking it loose and causing the cage to come down the two. There is video footage of him shooting a compound bow with only his feet. This guy is literally the Hercules of our generation. It really sucks he got injured though. He would have been the best. He had already been in two all star games in the same year (baseball and football). College football fact: he helped Auburn win their first game against Alabama ever, suggesting to the coach "why don't I just go over the top?" at the goal line. This guy was a monster.

For Quarterbacks and Receivers, height is a factor. For those that just run, screw people up and steal their ball being over 6' can be a liability.

Height is always a factor in football. There are exceptions, but those are generally such exceptional athletes and also only have a singular role. Darren Sproles, for example, is not an every down back. He is a great scat back, but he isn't running up the middle. Ray Lewis is another great example of an exception. He was considered far too small to be an effective linebacker. His exceptional ability to see plays develop helps him far more than a few extra inches and 20 extra pounds of muscle would have.

If for serious, you must immediately watch the 30 on 30 about Bo Jackson immediately. He is literally one of those once in a century athletes.

Actually, he would have still been injured. The problem is that his freakish strength reset the dislocated hip. If it was dislocated he would have been hospitalized and the injury that doomed him (broken artery that feed the hip joint) would have been discovered. the irony was that the thing that made him great is what ended up dooming his career.

The cage was his high school coach and the scout was from the Yankees. It took that one swing for the scout to tell Steinbrenner to get him.

Yes I'm being serious. I don't follow mainstream sports on the whole. I follow weightlifting, athletics and F1. I watch the big slams in Tennis.

My bro has a netflix account so I should get around to watching the documentary at some point. Cheers for the links.
