I think that people who do not work outside should be banned from complaining about the cold. But that's just me.

I used to live in the Berkshires and pumped gas at 5am in Jan. I've paid my dues.;)

Yeah it's pretty damn cold in NJ (21F). But you know what? I go skiing in Vermont every winter. Last year it was -40F at the mountain I go to (Mt. Snow). Err yeah, that was just a bit chilly. Especially with teh wind at the higher elevation.

Mt. Snow's ok. I agree, not enough and varied trails tho. I'd like to go killington but the thing is my friend has a condo at the base of Mt. Snow. Free lodging... and a lot of boozing :D. Besides, I'm not gonna kid around and say I'm some kinda pro. I'm average, maybe above average at best. Black diamond moguls still scare the bejesus out of me :).

this time last year it was -50F.. Right now it's about 5F, this has been an adbsurdly war winter so far. If these temperatures do not appeal to you DO NOT EVER come to the interior of Alaska. It pretty much sucks anways. 9 more months...

It was 17 this morning (Chicago) according to my car's thermometer. A wee bit chilly, plus I got to carry out orders to customers' cars, yay!

And it did indeed make it into the 40s today. Noreaster quite possibly in the forecast for Monday.

No skiing

Ummm...do you know anything about California? :p

I know there is skiing, but IIRC there are much fewer mountains to choose from then there are over here.

Also, if you live in a major metro area (LA/SD/SF) Skiing is quite far away, right?

Here I can be at a local mountain in 40 minutes, or a nice vermont or NH mountain in 90 minutes.
