14.1" screen and WXGA+ resolution - how does it look?

i'm shopping for a new laptop, and I've been to best buy and circuit city, and none of the 14.1" laptops on display have wxga+ resolution. Anyone have experience with this resolution on this screen size? Is it too high a resolution for that screen?

Thanks!

I just got a new T60 Thinkpad with a 14.1-in screen (4x3) and its native res is 1400 x 1050. I don't know what kind of XGA that is, but it is very high res. In Vista, it is no problem because I can set the text size to anything i want. Pictures are great as is.

corkyg, that's xga+, so it's the same thing I'm looking at but just non-widescreen. But no complaints? That's great. I love higher resolutions, but 14" is small for 1400x1050 (my 19" desktop monitor does that), so I wasn't sure. Thanks!

WXGA+ is fantastic. I had it on my Dell e1405. The extra space is great and it's still not too small to work with.

IMO, you should always get the highest resolution you can on a laptop (unless you have vision problems). I'm also running SXGA+ on a 14.1" IBM T43 and I love it.

i have a 15.4 with a wsxga+(1680x1050), i like having a smaller screen with a higher resolution, it looks really good, images come out sharper and clearer, though some things are definitly harder to see because of the resolution, but in general you'll be happier with a smaller screen with a higher resolution.

I don't find WXGA on a 14" to be that bad. I do wish in some cases that the resolution was higher (ala WXGA+), but for the most part, 1280x800 or 1280x768 is fine for most people.
