1394 cables?

This is my first 1394 experience - be gentle

I have a JVC camcorder with a 4 pin 1394 connector and my ASUS A7N8x Deluxe mobo has a 1394 card with 4 and 6 pin 1394 ports. I am trying to make some DVDs of (miniDV) video I took of my daughter for Gram & Gramps

Q1 - Does it matter if I use a 4 to 4 cable or a 4 to 6 cable???

Both the camcorder and mobo manual don't state a preference - so I'm guessing it doesn't matter (just want a second opinion from somebody who has worked with 1394 before).

On a second note - DAMN those cables are expensive!!! 3 ft cables are $30 and up!!! CRAP - my good Monster Cable AV cables didn't cost that much.

Q2 - Does cable quality really matter that much??

Q3 - Anybody know somewhere I might get a cable that won't require selling my kid to buy it?

Thanks

1- Shouldn't matter. I've used both with no problems.
2- IMHO, no.
3- MonoPrice has great deals on Firewire and all sorts of other cables. They're not of Monster Quality, but they get the job done and at $2-$3 a cable plus a few bucks shipping can't be beat.

Good luck!
