You'd think people like that would be all over Xenogears because it has giant robots with giant guns and scowling angry Jet Li looking dude with a pony tail on the front cover.

I'm doing my part. I'm exposing every child in my life, who only know the mainstream CoD shit shoved down their face, to RPGs.

I've got my 9 yr old nephew now anxious and asking by Thursday if I can come over again that weekend and bring Ni no Kuni or Golden Sun again or asking "what other story games do you have?" as he calls them, instead of him wanting to play Black Ops. He went from not being able to know what to do in a game that doesn't have a big arrow compass pointing straight ahead to excitedly and vividly recalling whole stories up to the point he last save after not playing for a week.

Eventually Ill get him on Final Fantasy 4 then feel bad when he is as bitter as I am after learning nobody makes those anymore.

My niece and her friends got REAL quiet watching me play Ni no Kuni when things got tragic, and I heard one of them squeak out "that's so sad..." and they all had the 1000 yard RPG stare of "can't move, won't move, what happens next..."

Hehehehe Excellent...

With all your talk about Xenogears, I had to go back and remind myself about all the details. Someone made a video of all the video/cutcenes of each game. I forgot the first one had 7 hours worth lol. There was much of the story I had forgotten. As soon as I finish up Bioshock Infinite and Xenoblade Chronicles, I'm going to restart Xenogears 2. Ugh. Not enough time :) I've had part 3 for many years, and never even touched it yet.

Even in cod. He just runs around shooting and doesn't even atop to think that maybe the dialog where you were given a mission objective might actually be important.

That's because all of the story stuff in Call of Duty is boring as hell. I was testing out a XIM Edge on my 360, and I decided to play the campaign. I started off, and there's some dude in a hospital chair just talking to me... and talking... and talking. It's probably the laziest type of exposition that you can do!

"As the market for console games becomes viable for only a select few, it becomes easier and easier to make the argument that game consoles are rapidly becoming obsolete."

Interesting ...

Not everyone likes RPGs. In fact, a lot of gamers are more into games that don't require you to spend 8 hours a day for a week to get the whole story and experience. They would rather have games that are like sports matches. You go in, play a few matches, and are done. The experience isn't about how long it takes, just how much fun you have doing it.

That's fine, but when economics dictates that will be the only kind of game you make, those who do NOT enjoy those kinds of cheap mass produced games get left in the cold.

Who wants to make an RPG when you can make 5 first person vs mode army shooters in the same amount of time that sell 20 times as much?

Yeah we understand you don't like fps games. Clearly other people do.
