There might be multiple versions of the controller. Unless there isn't a serial number, PIDs aren't unique.

Ah. Okay then, I didn't know that. Just thought a SW Force Feedback 2 was just that.

What are the other versions?

I think as long as you don't give away your serial it should be ok. I think some people used to pull a scam where they ripped off ID codes on the product, called in MS and got free stuff.

Only works for keyboards and mice. Microsoft gaming controllers are (were) handled under a different division.
