who considers leet speak an oxymoron? a friend said that since u dont actually talk in leet speak, since its only typed its not really speak... but i said well isnt the ord "haxor" leet speak?

I think anyone who substitutes u, ur, r, y, b, ne1, thx, wut, plz, or various other "leet speak" words for actual English ones should be fatally shot. Sure their parents would bitch &amp; moan ("HE WAS ONLY <insert number from 7-12> YEARS OLD!!11 OMGZ") but once that grief passes the internet would be much better off.
 
I speak leet sometimes with me leet friends. For example

I'm going to go leet haxor on teh lunch system so I can get O-M-G teh free lunch-zorr

A lot of that is hold overs from the earlier days of the internet. Downloading at 300baud means that this post would take a lot longer now than if we used some of those shortcuts. Elite speak was born out of that "short hand."
 
i thought leet was made so people could talk on terminals in libraries and stuff and the monitors didnt know what they were talking about so they could say anything...

As someone who was around in the earlier days, that's not exactly true - the web was pretty flaky in the early days, if you didn't keyboard EXACTLY what you needed, spelled precisely, you didn't get to do much. A lot of the spelling-fanatics came out of that experience.
