Hi,
I have recently upgraded my system to i7 3770k and msi mpower z77 mobo
Now it's time to upgrade RAM. Currently I am using 2*2gb 1666mhz cl9 gskill ripjaws.
I will be using this system only for 3ds max and rendering.
And I will be purchasing 16gb-32gb depending on the mood. (as of now I don't need 32 gb).

So As the title suggests i am confused on which MHZ RAM to purchase.
So please pour in your suggestions.

the speed of the memory isn't going to matter much... but i'd recommend at least 8gb for 3ds max, especially if you're working with multiple projects at once. more is fine but i can't see you using up more than 12gb unless you're trying to max everything out for fun or something.

as for speed... just go with what is recommended range for the board (standard for max stability) or something on the QVL. i don't think you're really going to notice much of a difference in that range... it's all considered higher performance.

Your board supports overclocking RAM to ridiculous levels, so go with higher/faster RAM.

you can pretty much purchase whatever speed RAM you want as long as it's DDR3, 1333, 1600, 1866, 2000, 2133, 2200, 2400.

Surely they have a better list, but you could also follow this for compatible memory.

Don't go ape-s**t though, 1600, 1866 is fine, you'll see no real benefits beyond that.

I have RAM that is "stock" at 1600, 9/9/9/24... I have it OC'd to 2000 10/10/10/26... in artificial benchmarks, that nets me about 1GB faster transfer... has no real effect in rendering (though I don't use 3ds Max often, mostly LightWave, Cinema4D, Modo, etc)
