133 FBS on the XP2100

I have a XP2100 on a Asus A7N8X Deluxe. It is set now to 133 FBS and 13 Multiplier. I would like to set it to 166 FBS and 11.5 Miltiplier but it will not post at the 166 FBS. Even if I set the multiplier to 10.

Is this chip locked at 13?

The color of the CPU is brown if that helps. I did not get the code off of it before I installed the HS and fan.

I figured I would get an easy 166x11. HUH?

When overclocking do we try to get the best FBS we can and not up the multiplier too much?

Thanks

yeah..its locked
u could try the wire trick to unlock it and then lower the multiplier and bump the FSB.

its locked?

im using an XP 2100 as well,
managed to do 166 X 13 for a 2.1Ghz,

but I wasn't satisfied..

I am now doing a 205 X 11, ( 2.25 Ghz )
everything seems great.

stable in Prime95, Memtest86 and 3dmark 03

I believe my comp didn't boot at 11.5 though..
same thing as u, avoid 11.5 and try some other multipliers...
I think 12 worked for me before..

I can change the multiplier, but I cant seem to change the FBS out of anything other than 133. I didn't think they locked the XP2100?

Oh Well!

Oh Well!

you can't change it?
thats weird.

did you set it to user defined??
coz as I remember, with the basic set up,
u should be able to choose between,
133, 166 and 200

Actually I can change it, sorry for the misquote. If I change it to 166, even with a multiplier of 10 it will not post. Is there a FSB jumper on the MB?

Thanks for the replies!

Oh, I better inform, I am running PC-2100 RAM.

yeah, now it sounds like its the Ram limiting you,

coz I am using PC3200

surely allows me to touch 200 Mhz easily.

Honestly, the RAM is likely your weak link these 2100+ CPU's are from hell. My AIUHB 0302 XP-2100+ runs all day, all night at 2.3 Ghz. It has gone 2.47 Ghz for 12 hours Prime95 stable. My HyperX PC 2700 is my weak link.
