Ahh, the question of upgrading.
At the end of April I will be acquiring a sum of money that will allow me to purchase a card in the pricerange that is the title of this thread. This makes the three players the standard GeForce 2 GTS, the upcoming KYRO II, or the (insert adjective here) Radeon 64MB DDR. As prices are going right now, the GeForce 2 Pro may find it's way into this range, but I'd rather spend a little less money as in a year that money will be put to use on presumably a GeForce 3 or Radeon 2. I've read quite a bit on all of these as well, coming up with...
In todays games, it seems the KYRO II is the best performer, as shown in the recent article here. But taking the benchmarks shown in the GeForce 3 preview in mind, KYRO II's DX8 performance looks horrible, though none of todays' cards performed particuraly well. This, along with no hardwired T&L could prove a quick death for the KYRO II, though it's tile based rendering might save it, it's to hard too predict the future.
The Radeon on the other hand, has the T&L engine, and limited DX8 features stock right now. But from what I've read, all of the potential the Radeon has is just being slammed into a brick wall by it's drivers. If anyone out there can contest this statement from the use of new drivers, please do so. It's redeeming quality though, seems to be it's 32-bit gameplay, from what I've seen having higher consistant FPS than the GeForce 2 GTS in many benchmarks.
And the GeForce 2 GTS is well...the standard.
Your opinions would be appreciated
