What if they gave a war & nobody came ?

Quote:
Thirteen members of a top commando unit who announced their refusal to serve in the Palestinian areas
will be kicked out of the army if they do not back down on their decision, the IDF Chief of Staff said Monday.

Maybe those 13 knew what they were really suspose to do over there, knew it wasn't right, & refused to do it.

"I only followed orders" - the old Wehrmacht excuse. These Israeli soldiers are clearly men of integrity. Israel needs more soldiers like them.

Difference is between politically and morally(humanly) unacceptable.

The conflict existed long before they started to serve and they knew what the stakes were.

if they were palestinians, the plo would torture and publicly lynch them.

No, these soldiers are protesting against Sharon's immoral policies. To defend your nation is one thing. To wage a war of aggression quite another.

And how long has this aggression been going on? Should Israel just ignore what is triggering the aggression?

Even the Palestinians have people who are against trying to solve the problem

That, Dari, is because Lincoln DID give a damn --about the cause of LIBERTY. He issued the emancipation proclamation based on the idea that all men are created equal. Jefferson, Adams and Madison ALL wanted to abolish Slavery when the country was FOUNDED, but they couldn't get enough support from the colonies to do so, as they needed 11 of the 13 colonies to ratify the Constitution for there to even *BE* a Union. It's sad and unfortunate, but the history of humankind has not been one that has been friendly to Liberty, and the founding, the civil war, the civil rights act...they were all the small steps that have lead us to the day where, for the most part, we all think of each other as human beings with rights (at least in America) and the law (mostly) respects that.

I understand frustration that it was never possible to simply unilaterally declare liberty across the board for everyone, but the foundation was laid and many hard steps have been taken since, to the credit of the United States of America.
