i go under the knife...

at 2:00pm EST on Wednesday July 16th, I have to go in for surgery and have a cyst removed from my back...

I've never had surgery or anything, and they arent knocking me out... just local freezing or whatever...

Kinda scared... I know... I'm a baby... but still... I hate knowing that they are cutting me open while I lay there... eek!

Anyway... just thought I'd post... :) helps take my mind off it...

i had circumcision, it hurt much worse :p

I have a cyst.. getting it removed next wednesday. LMK how it goes. Mine's on my wrist.

You never know, they could leave knives and other surgical tools in there when they sew him up . . . or the freezing could be cast on the wrong side, or the cut could be too deep, you neve know with a back where the vertebrae is . . ..

I had something like that done just over 2 years ago, except it was on the back of my neck (chicks dig the scar ;))

Depending on how big it is, it probably won't hurt more than getting poked a few times. They didn't knock me out either, I was given local anestesia.

Just remember, when the doc tells you to take it easy after the surgery, DO EXACTLY WHAT HE TELLS YOU. My scar wouldn't be nearly so big if I had stayed "calm"

My brother had one behind his ear and it was done right in the office so it cant be that bad.

Yeah, I booked the night off work at UPS so that I could just chill with my girlfriend for the night... the next day though, back to work... thanks for the tip tho man!

Anyway... I guess I should get some sleep and prepare for this crap... not looking forward to it at all... Thanks for the thoughts guys... :)

Don't worry dude and it will be a snap, just a few needle pricks to numb the area and a few minutes later it will be all over. If it's any consolation I had a csyt on my head for many years that didn't bother me till my hairline receded enough that it was going to be visible so I removed it myself and it didn't even hurt that much so you will be fine.

Bah, there's nothing to worry about....at least you'll be awake. I've gone completely under for 2 surgeries and basically what freaked me out about the whole thing is the chance that I wouldn't wake up. So, since you'll be awake the entire time you've got nothing to fear.

Oh, and if you see the doctor zipping up his pants after the operation don't worry about it 'cause it's all part of the procedure.....at least that's what my doctor told me.

just imagine the pyschological pain he went through when the dr snipped off what little he had left.
I doubt it was physical pain.
It didn't hurt during the procedure, only after.

you won't feel a thing, but half way throught he sugrey, scream out in pain to scare the $hit out of them, hehe just make sure no knives are in thier hands or near you the look would be priceless

Bah, I had my spleen taken out and it wasn't that bad. Just think of SLEEP when they put the gas mask on you...

Heh ... I had a surgey for a pilonidal cyst twice ... first time was under local.

Let's put it this way ... if the doc asks "How's your pain tolerance?" when discussing anethesia options, you don't want to go there :(
It was easily the most painful experience I've ever had.

Needless to say, I went with a more comprehensive anethesia next time ... wasn't general, but might as well have been ... I was gone.

The recovery was no fun though :(

Okay... I'm home from the hospital and have had it removed... The freezing of my back kinda stung a little bit, but nothing huge... and I didnt even feel the doctor cut me... I did however feel him pressing the crap out of the cyst and everything... that hurt... but still, tolerable... and now he tells me that I have to have home-care come and re-pack the stuff so it heals right... cant wait... Anyway... Thanks for the thoughts guys!! Well appriciated!

i got two planters wart on the bottom of my foot, it was in there for awhile so i had to get them cut out, it took about half an inch out of my foot

If it makes ya feel better, in about 90 minutes i'll be sitting (lying?) in the doctors office with a large tube shoved up my a$$, and about 10 people looking inside me.

Colonoscopy's are fun .... NOT :(
