Don't know the brand, I will update if I find it out. This appears (if you could believe Fry's pictures) to be a Cendyne packaging; the picture doesn't appear to be a Plextor rebadge. $129 isn't too bad, though...if it's a Sanyo.

My boss bought a Cendyne 8X/4X/32X drive a year ago and it's a Plextor.I wouldn't make a claim on what these might be. It could be Sanyo, Yamaha, Lite-on, Plextor or something else. Sorry, it wasn't much help but here's a link to their site.

Cendyne

How do you guys know a rebadged drive? Is there a marking or something on the drive cause if so, that's sounds like something I might pick up.

You can't go by the picture on the box with a Cendyne. The 8x4x32 had a picture of a Ricoh but some were Plextors and later ones were Acers. Some of the the 12x4x32 Cendynes were Sanyo. Hopefully the 12x10 is a burnproof Plextor or Sanyo or Teac. If the box has "TLA 0x0x" on a sticker on it it will be a Plextor. Cendynes usually have an excellent Nero 5 software package. Sanyo drives have 2 LEDs with the emergency eject hole on the far left.

Can someone please answer/confirm the following:

- Is this drive a rebagde plextor or sanyo?

- Is this drive burn-proof?

- How does this compare to the recent Teac deal?

Many Thanks.

"I THINK" this thing may have burn-proof ... why? Because it only has 2mb buffer .....
Anyone want to grab one and give it a try?

The 12x10x32 Cendyne is an Aopen drive, I went to Frys and they have 100's of them, NOT burnproof. See link The picture on the 4x4x32 BTC drive looked like an Acer or Phillips, the 8x8x32 Cendyne was definitely a Teac. The drive pictured on the Pacific digital 16x10x40 was a Yamaha("write proof", not burnproof), and the specs all matched Yamaha.

This is a pretty good price.
I'd jump on it if I didn't already have a ["Aren't I Cool?" Voice] TDK 12x10x32x CD-RW drive with burnproof [end "Aren't I Cool?" Voice]
