PC Club has a 12x10x32x CDR-W for $149.99. Deal expires tommorrow (12/29/00). It is sold under the Lite-On name. I thought Lite-On was a no-name until I opened my Compaq and found it had a Lite-On power supply. Their web page is definitly lacking, but I've never needed much support for any type of CD drive--burner or reader.

OK, these are NOT rebadged plextors, Lite-On makes these, NOT plextor

<< Liteon makes BURN-Proof enabled CDR-W drive

Liteon is the newest manufacturer which got the BURN-Proof certificate at 27/12/2000. Liteon is the 4rth manufacturer which gets BURN-Proof certificate after Sanyo,Plextor and Teac. The model is the LTR-12101B (firmware a005) and supports:

Write speeds: 2x,4x,8x,12x
Re-Write speeds: 2x,4x,8x(HS),10x(HS)

Liteon had a hard time to get the BURN-Proof certificate. They tried 3 times in order to pass the Sanyo tests :)

I doubt they are rebadged Plextors. LiteOn is a Taiwan-based company that sells a variety of different items including keyboards, CDR media, power supplies, and CDRW drives.

I looked at the picture of the 8x4x32 Liteon CDRW on their website and it looks like a Sanyo drive. The button and emergency eject hole is in the same location as a Sanyo.

There's another deal on this drive at here

Lite-on makes CD-Roms for Dell, so I would trust their product. But I just bought the Iomega 12/10/32 drive.
