Thanks Mystic Man. I had broke down and ordered the DD1203 this morning for $80.99 from NewEgg thinking I was never going to bother with Dual Layer. After seeing this I figured I'd rather have this for just $20 more and maybe DL discs would be reasonably priced sometime in the future. It was too late for me to cancel online so I called NewEgg but it showed already to have shipped. I explained the situation and the CSR told me to just refuse the shipment and I would be credited upon its return. Optorite makes a great burner. Ripping speeds aren't great but definitely a reliable burner. And NewEgg rocks!

How would one get the 12x burn speed...use 8X discs? 8x discs can be hard to find, especially at reasonable prices in retail now, so wondering if you use really good 4x discs, good 8x discs, or just 12x discs to burn at 12x?

You can burn certain brands of 8x disc at 12x and 8x media is not that expensive any more.
