Saying anything technical in these forums is an invitation to get flamed, but I should point out that this PS is not the monster some of you think. It is rated 12 volts 5 amps continuous. A 70w Melcor 127 junction peltier -- a rather common TE -- is rated at 8amps 16 volts max and draws 6amps at 12volts. This supply might be able to handle a 6amp steady load, but it also might overheat if run beyond its rated continuous capacity. The nice feature about it is that the output voltage is variable which makes it useful for bench work -- but the current capacity is still the limiting feature. My Kenco bench supplies are variable 0-40 volts and deliver 10 amps at full voltage. Anyone thinking of buying this RS PS to power their peltier might want to think twice.
