I recently upgraded last week to a newer socket A system and everything went fine with the install, setup, etc. Everything has been correctly identified and installed and the system is super-fast compared to my older one.
The issue I'm having is that when I check the status of the system with AbitEQ (the board I bought was an Abit NF7-S v2.0), it reports/alarms that the -12V line is too high/low (don't know what it's considered to be). The -12V line is reporting -13.44 in the BIOS and in AbitEQ. Is this something to worry about and what could be the cause?
Initially I tried using the new setup with my older 300W PSU but noticed the system was acting kind of funny during startup(I would have to press the reset button to get it to go to Windows), but then decided to upgrade to an Antec 400W PSU a few days later. After I installed it, the system no longer required the reset button and loaded normally upon power-up. I didn't check what the draw was with the old PSU, but I don't really want to unless someone recommends it just to see if it reports differently.
Here is the setup:
Abit NF7-S v2.0
AthlonXP Barton 400MHz 3000+
ThermalTake Silent Boost Heatsink/Fan
2x 512MB Corsair RAM
VisionTek GeForce2 Ultra 64MB
1 Maxtor 80GB/7200RPM HD
1 Seagate 80GB/7200RPM HD
1 NEC 2500A DVD+-RW
1 Lite-On 48x CD-RW
1 Mitsumi Floppy
Antec 400W SmartPower PSU
