I'm in the proccess of wiring up my xm radio reciever into my car -- only thing left to do is hook up the power.

i've a ground, 12v, and ACC wire, and I remember how i ran it in my old car.

From what i've read so far - it looks like most people with my car are running 12v to the fuse, and ACC to the cigerette lighter. Does that sound right?

The ACC should only get power when the car is on, or the key is in ACC posistion, right? and the 12v line is always getting power?

what do you in cars with no accessory power?

yes

thats what i thought --- here is why this is confusing me. Why would i need regular 12v power in addition to the ACC power? I can't use the radio when the car is turned off, so why would the XM unit need power?

hmmm. I usually steal from the radio wiring but I guess this isn't an option since you've got that nice one-piece dash. Uhm, run a fused line from the battery?

actually it looks like the radio wiring is going to be the best option -- i've already got entire dashboard out in pieces on my garage floor.. tons of fun. NOT.

the ACC is only there for a reference signal to know when the key is actually on.
