MY antec crapped out on me. While I'm waiting for a replacement, is it possible to mod my 400w to power the second 12v square connector on the MB? It doesn't seem to start without it.

I presume you are referring to the Pentium 4 connector. There is no reason you cannot do it if you can safely make the plug stay in place. This is sort of what you would have to make. The 12v line is split in 2 and the 2 grounds are used. You can probably buy one of these at a local computer store for a few bucks. They are only $2 at SVC.

yes. that's exactly what I'm talking about. Does it matter which ground goes where, or are they interchangable?

I don't see why it would, but honestly I don't know. The yellow wires are both 12V and the black both ground. I don't see why order would be important. There was a thread not long ago discussing a similar situation when sleeving PSU wires. No one could say for sure if the ground wire had to be specific to the 5v or 12v line, but it was agreed it should be just in case. Adaptors like I mentioned before are all over the place and seem like they would be at least some proof that this doesn't matter. You may want to get more opinions though.

yay. it worked. I tested the grounds first with a multimeter on all the molex connectors, etc., they were connected. There's no difference between them. I did a little soldering and presto! everything works beautifully. Anyway, thanks for the help - I saved about $50.00 (using my old 400w instead of buying a new atx12v).
