Agreed, the HC520 12TB for $75 is the way to go when it drops back to that price. Some discussion is in the storage forum if you're interested:

These 12TB HC520 HUH721212ALE601 drives are available again at $74.00 each from goHardDrive Wholesale on their eBay site here if anyone wants some. Comes out to $6.17/TB which isn't a bad price without a coupon available.

thanks for this posting. i have some aging HDDs in my NAS that i need to replace.

is there a good place to send old HDDs for recycling/refurbishing?

Never done it before, but it doesn't say that you have to purchase anything from them to do it. They'll also send you a 15% off coupon for their webstore as well.

And, the refurb 12TB HGST Ultrastar DC HC520 drives are still on sale at GoHardDrives's ebay webstore for $74.00 each.
