i just noticed the Acer AL1914SMD selling for ~$350 at buy.com on the surface, this looks likea pretty good gaming monitor (12ms, 1280 x 1024, DVI, 500:1 contrast). but so far i haven't been able to find any reviews or even a release date online.

does anyone have this monitor, or info on it? if so, what do you think?

in a 19 inch I like resolutions of 1600x1200. I am surprised at the low resolution you say it has. I had a sylvania and i19 inch and it was as good as any LCD 19 inch with 1600x1200

Pretty much all 19" LCD's have 1280x1024 as the native resolution, in fact I don't think I have seen anything else other than a widescreen having a different native res. So unless he got a bigger one (20") which obviously costs more it won't be 1600x1200.

Most 19" have 1280 tbh, thing is dude, take a look at the LG monitor they have for 19", tis 1280, no DVI of course for this range, and 12ms, and tis LG with a guarantee of 0 pixel tollerence!!

Better to go with something known to the market imho.
