I am getting a MSI K7t Pro2a motherboard with 128k of PC133 RAM, and I also have 128k of PC100 RAM, from what I understand if I want to use my old RAM I have to run the PC133 as PC100? if thats the case would I be better of with 128 of PC133 or 256 of PC100?

yup. the PC133 will be running at PC100. how much ram to get would depend on the OS you are running. with win98 and possibly ME 256 mb should be enough. if you are running win2k, however, give it as much ram as possible.

That would be 128M not 128k.

You might be able to run your 128MB PC100 at PC133 you know.

I'd try that, either way I'd go with 256MB, but try it at PC133.

I run Win2k... so even at PC100 speed 256k would be better than 128k of PC133? (my PC100 works well at Cas2 whatever that means)

I believe you mean 128 MB (k stands for "kilobyte").
I suspect people will say that your question to run both 128MB sticks at PC-100 versus only ONE 128MB stick at PC-133 would depend on the TYPE of applications you most frequently use.
If you are heavily into video editing, CAD\CAM or the like, you MAY be better off with 256MB of RAM at PC-100. If you mostly "do" word processing, cruising the "net" and "gaming", using just the 128MB of PC-133 RAM might suffice. This solution might also spare you any RAM compatability problems.

Yes 256MegaBytes (Not KiloBytes) of RAM even as PC100 would be better then 128MB of PC133.

Not that although there is no reason it shouldn't work, sometimes mixing PC100 and PC133 doesn't work.

I had 64MB of PC100 and added another 64 of PC133 which worked fine, but when prices finally fell and I added 128MB of PC133 I start getting memory errors up the ying-yang. When the PC100 was removed (leaving 192MB) everything worked like a charm.

I foolishy assumed you were running Win98/ME. Listen to the suggestions given since you are running Win2K.
