Just out of a curiousity....alright.. I just started to see what the X850XT can do with the eye candy and such. I started to push the card up to 4 aa/ 8 af like other's do with their high end cards. But, as I started playing wolfenstein: enemy territory. I just noticed the fps message bar kept displaying 60 fps constantly , never above. So I tried using the console command /com_maxfps "###" and still 60 fps. So, I benchmark this fella @ aquamark, and still the fps are capped @ 60 :Q ! I really got no idea here...so later on, I return everything on the ATi control center to "let application decide" leaving no aa/af activated.

Then I returned to the game, and benchmark (AQ3), The fps were NOT capped (130+ fps ore more)....can someone explain to me whats going on  ?!!!@! Does it have it to do the refresh rate or something ????

Yeah, turn off vsync for benchmarks defenatly. Otherwise leave it on for image quality or turn it off for performance, and if you do like the image quality of vsync then be sure to force triple buffering in the drivers for OpenGL games like ET.

It's nice that you guys replied. But I'm really stumped, I can't fine the VSYNC option :( but triple buffering and refresh rates yes...

Um, it is called "wait for vertical syncrinsation" or "wait for vertical refresh" or something in the CCC, I can't say exactly what ATI calls it right now as I am running a nVidia card at the moment, but it should be something along those lines.

Because 1280x1024 is the wrong aspect ratio for a CRT so it distorts the image.

You shouldn't really bother. 60fps is good enough for your eyes and VSync means less image tearing.

Ahhh guess I should stop using 1280x1024(LCD) on CS : S, but at 1280x960 does it change the picture quality or?

for slow moving things it's fine, but if you want to do a fluent 180 degree spin in .1 sec then with 30 fps you will do that with only 3 frames: front, 90 degree and back. Is that enough for you?

30 is good enough for Video playback, sucks for gaming and 60Hz on a CRT is hardly tolerable if you're sensitive to low refresh rates...especially in lighter areas, and untolerable on the desktop IMO.

Try /r_swapinterval 0 in Wolf: ET console if you can't find VSync. If VSync is set to app preference, this should turn it off within game.

Edit: you may have to do /vid_restart afterwards also. If /r_swapinterval 0 still has it capping it at 60 FPS, use /r_displayRefresh x, where x is a refresh rate within spec for your monitor. You will also need to do /vid_restart after this. When all is said and done, these settings will be saved in your Wolf: ET profile config. If all else fails, you said you saw Triple Buffering, and I can't think of an instance where you would not want this enabled. It enables a third buffer on the video card to help overcome loss from the frame dropping caused by VSync.

The VSync option in ATI CCC is under the following:

(Open CCC)
Select 3D->No Preview on the left tree.
Scroll down to find "Wait for vertical refresh". In this case, you'll want this all the way to the Performance side so it says Always Off. Then click Done and you're all set.

Hey: just out of curiosity, what nickname do you go by in Wolf: ET? I'm omega (the guy that spams Negative! a lot :D), played on WhosGaming, S*** Storm, Lemmings a lot. Just wondering, I've probably seen you around, and vice versa. :Q I've gotta get back to playing that game...
