25mm thick might be the thinnest 120mm fan you'll find. Neither Digikey nor Mouser (both have massive inventories) had anything thinner than 25mm in the 120mm flavor.

Yeah I saw that 20mm fan in the specs of a recent PSU.....can't quite remember however. I'll try to remember where I saw it. Never heard of a 15mm at all.

just screw a normal fan to the top of the case on the outside. hold it with screws underneath, put a wire fan grill on top. problem solved.

I googled 120x120x15 and from another forum someone mentioned a Papst 18 dB 120x120x15 mm fan, but I haven't seen anything like that for sale anywhere.

thought about that, but that is too ugly, a big 120mm fan sitting on top of my case:disgust:

okay i'm gonna shed some light on why i'm looking for slim 120mm fan. i have a RAIDMAX Astro case, i cut a blow hole on top to help with the cooling. i did have a thermaltake 120x120x25 there. recently i bought a new PSU this one the problem is now the connectors going into the PSU stick out far enough to block my fan, but if i had a slim design fan, that would leave me enough room to slide the fan above the connectors.

thanks for the info on the papst 120mm ranmao, i did a google search, but nothing came up for a slim design.

Just for the exercise I looked for about 30 minuets, found nothing.

Crazy solution. Buy 4-60x10mm fans, sand two sides of each on a flat surface, super glue
all four together=instant 60cfm 120x10 fan at about 32dBA :D These fans can be found at
BGMicro.com or AllElectronics.com for < $2.50. They will start/run at 5V and are near
silent at 7.5V. At 8" I can not here one of these at 7.5V.
If you go for this, just make sure all the tails are to the outside. Solder the leads together
and join to one plug.

I've done this when pairing 92mm fans as front intakes to replace paired 80mm fans.
Using a double layer of waxed paper on a flat surface, it's quite easily done. I use the
super glue from ACE Hardware that comes in a nail polish type plastic bottle. A light coat
to each, almost let it dry, then a flood coat to one, press together, hold for 30 seconds,
let set for 15 minuets then join the others.

I just checked. This joining of four 60s will place the mounting holes further out by 1/2 the
hole diameter.

Better solution=RMA your present PSU, spend that money on a Fortron/Sparkle that is NOT
modular, then install a 120x25 fan of choice. I spent the same money on a Zippy/Emacs
HG-2 6400P from www.buildtoorderservers.com=incredably good PSU.

.bh.

This from FrozenCPU. thanks Zepper, but i already purchased that adapter a couple of days ago, thought it would be here today, but tomorrow i guess, it should do the trick.
FYI, Rosewill makes poor PSUs. For $89 you could have a PSU much better than that.
thanks for the heads up, soon as it blows up you'll be the first to know, besides i like living on the edge:)
