From reading in these forums I've heard a lot of good things about the Yate Loon fans.

My needs for a fan are: 120mm, quiet, 3-pin motherboard connector

I don't care about colors or lights are anything like that. I just want to make sure that I'm looking at the right fan and also a good place to buy one. How about here?

Any other fan recommendations are welcomed.

Depends... Do you want a fan that can actually move some air, or is low (noise) and slow (like the Y-L) adequate?

Yes i agree They use a Fluid Dynamic type bearing made by Sony which basically removes any friction between metal parts. This means it's almost silent.

Of course I want a fan that can move air, that is sort of the point of a fan right?

Since no one else mentioned it, Im going to throw in the bid for the Delta 120x38mm Low Speed fans. I would never reccommend these without an automatic fan controller. But these are fans with actual backbones that can move more than a slight breeze. With a fan controller, I have founf the to be very quiet, but when temperature gets up, they step up. Wonderful fans IMO.

Yea, YL's are good. So are Global Win's with ceramic bearing technology. Go to Madshrimps. They had an excellnt review of 120mm fans complte with audio files.

I have to go with the silver stone fans. I think they have the highest CFMs out of all of the case fans in existance.

If the Yate Loons are adequate for your needs, then jab-tech has the best price on them I've seen. $7. for a pair +sh. And they are nice folks to deal with - I buy there often and consider the owner a friend. Dial back the voltage a bit and you have Nexus equivalent fans.

I think they're 3.99 now.

Ooops, sorry. Looks like he changed it to 3.99 for one, 3.49 each for quantity 3 and up... Still, 3.99 is the best price per Froogle. If I needed two, I'd buy three anyway - one can't expect a $4.00 fan to be that long lived. Put one in the parts closet for a spare.

which is why they're not quiet, thus don't fit his parameters... but if you've got a silent case... those things are a beast!

For sure, best application for them and the best fan for the job IMO. I also happen to find them very capable case fans when used with an automatically adjusting fan controller (Like the Theta? Forgot the exact name). When a comp I was using wasn't doing anything, I could turn them off and the Low Speed Delta I had on the SI-120 kept it more then cool enough. When encoding, the fans would speed up or speed down depending on how hot it go. Very excellent fans, I very much do praise them :D
