the 120 mm fan in my aspire q-pack case has 2 connecting thingys...lol....i guys male and female......must i connect both for the fan to work/>?
 
i assume you're talking about a 3 pin header and a 4 pin molex. since 120mm fans tend to need more power to spin, i recomend using the 4 pin molex (the big connector).
 
That's called a pass through. Just plug the male into a female from the PSU.
That leaves a female to plug into something else, like an optical or HD.
