120mm fan for HD cooling

I have 2 HD's running about 40c (tad more on intensive use). Since I have lots of room in the mounting bays I was thinking of installing 120 mm fans over each of the HD's.

These should make for a quite solution and move a fair amount of heat. Would it be best to have the fan blowing on the HD or drawing air away from it?

Anyone using a 120mm fan for this purpose?

i think most decent cases on earth have a 120mm blowing over the sides of the hds (or the front) i dont think sucking air over them would be as good. What case do you have?

The case is an Antec SLK3700. Using a Scythe 120mm fan on back and cools fine. Simple system no OC'ing.

Doubt if there is enough heat on the HD's to be concerned. One HD mounted in 5 1/4" bay and other in 3 1/2" bay. Lots of room above and below HD's. Just thought extra cooling might be nice.

Turn on a fan, and put your hand in front of it, and on the back side by the same amount. You'll notice you can feel the airflow considerably further away from the fan on the high pressure side. So will your drives.

that 120mm fan is verry good for hdd cooling, my hdds are 27-29-30 celsius
