Looking at buying the Samsung c49rg90 49” ultra wide screen monitor. Not really for gaming but for video editing. I think it has more future-proof technology than the Dell version.

However I have a 2018 MacBook Pro with Vega 64 graphics. The Mac specs say the maximum the video board will put out is 60hz.

Is this compatible? Can I have a monitor that’s 120hz but only getting 60hz input?

The 60hz is only for the MBP built-in display. The display output (miniDisplayport via thunderbolt interface) does support beyond 60hz monitors. It will probably default to 60, but go ahead and set it higher, because it will look far better even for general desktop usage.

I can't attach the thread on mobile, but there is info out there for you :)
