120hz LCD monitors

Is it an actual 120hz refresh rate on the TVs or is it the marketing gimmick crap that a lot of companies will pull? I miss gaming on my CRT @ 100hz+. While I love my 24" monitor and the res, I do miss the feel of 100hz+ when gaming (mainly talking about CS here).

As far as I know, there are still only two genuine 120hz LCDs out there, the 22" Viewsonic and Samsung ones meant for use with 3D vision. Anything else marked 120hz is just marketing speak.

I would love for a 24" 100hz+ S-IPS monitor, but I'm not sure how I would feel paying the insane price they would ask.

I remember some no name 120hz as well on the egg; so were up to 4 120 hz monitors!!! woo!!

But with the 120hz tvs thats kinda different... it still only accepts a 60hz input, and it processes the frames and interps an extra one in the to smooth out the motion; absolutely horrible to game on because of the delay of processing

Heh, now there are 240hz TVs.

Again...a 60hz input with 3 extra frames inserted to simulate 240hz.

True 120hz = awesome

TV "120hz" = OK for CG and other uses, but not true 120hz and makes some media look "odd" with the visual effect.

Probably. We'll need to move to displayport or hdmi too since dvi isn't high clockspeed enough to carry the extra pixels (except at low resolutions).

Nice to know that there are more choices than just the Samsung. I was wondering if there was some market or tech problem with the 120hz. Seems like OLED is still to far in the future for proper resolutions and price. Are there any 24" 120hz's out now?

I am waiting for the asus 23.6" 120hz Asus VG242H, even though I expect it'll be a bit expensive, but then LCD's are so cheap these days (I remember when an 18 inch 1280*1024 cost $1500) so still not too bad.

I suspect it's just a matter of time (i.e. a couple of years) before nearly all LCD's are 120hz or more.
