120hz display questions

Thinking about getting one but have a few questions first. I read to get the full 1920X1080p 120hz you have to have a dual link dvi cable. Is this true and by dual link dvi do they mean the dvi cable that plugs in both dvi slots on your card then go to one on monitor? And do you see any improvement in gaming? Do you have to have a min of 120fps?

All modern gfx cards have DVI-D. And a 120hz monitor will likely come with a DVI-D cable.

DVI-D just means digital output. There are dual-and single-link cables. Both connect to only one slot.

It's a single DVI cable with all pins populated, NOT two cables.. it is required for 120hz operation and will be included with the monitor.
