So I read all this bad shnit about IBM drives on the net, but when I asked my buddies about their thoughts it was just the oposite (granted their were some people out there whome I do not know personally (quite a few actually) that had major problems). Based on my buddies experiences I decided to make the 120GXP my first NEW drive since getting into computers less than a year ago (but fast aproaching a year). As we speak the last partition of my new drive is being formatted and I was searching for a review of it to see what the scores would be on the benches. I found this link:Text. Its qite impresive actually. I started searching for a review after reading this here at anandtech: Text, that was quite disturbing. So for anyone that has any doubts about wether this drive is up tp par and worth investing in maybe the first link listed in this post will change these peoples minds, or not ;) It is still a review worth checking out ehh. At any rate I am glad I went with this drive and one thing worth mentioning is that the 120gxp's are using glass platters which are not prone to the same demise that the 60 and 75gxp drive fell victim to. By the way Text has a great deal on them.

well i have't tried the gxp120 hard drive yet but i have always had pretty good luck with ibm hard d rives all the way back from the early deskstar days.

There have been reports of the 75gxp series being not that great, but i have had good sucess with my 60GXP which from all reports seems much less prone to failer than the 75gxp series.

Personally i would give the 120gxp a go. :)
