120gb for $89....

I bought one of these a few weeks ago and it works great for the price. It uses asynchronous NAND, so it's very comparable in performance to the OCZ Agility 3, et al. It won't be as fast as synchronous or toggle-mode drives.

Mushkin is a good company with great support, which makes their drives easy to recommend. Have an issue? Post in their forum and get a reply within a couple hours (if not sooner).

Ive owned fast SSDs and Budget SSDs

My theory is once you go SSD, you dont see a difference going to a higher end SSD unless looking for it, aka benchmarking, for day to day pc use.

Anything would be a performance boost for me. can we say IDE Hdds(dont judge me lol)
 
This smells fishy, its going to die on you.. mushkin is one of the worst on market for SSD they already make cheap ram so why not come in business of selling SSD.

Get a Intel 320 or a Crucial M4 or Sammy 830 series 300GB or OCZ Agility 4

Ok, they might be different now but long long ago, had mushkin so did my dads and cousins,,,, dad got errors testing ram. then my cousins it worked for 2 months and died... Its my opinion Im not bringing facts to the table,, just imo,,, thx gl

These SSD's are reliable and decent. Stop spreading false info based on 1 result your "cousin" had with some memory that has nothing AT ALL to do with anything.

If you are a huge Mushkin fan, go ahead with that SSD. I would wait for another $100 deal on a Crucial M4 or similar, personally.
 
Mushkin = good
Sandforce = bad

Overall, I'm inclined to give Mushkin the benefit of the doubt on this one. The 520 series has been out for long enough now that the other SF 2281 drives should have benefitted from intel's superior validation and testing, and as stated Mushkin is a good brand.

Of greater concern to me is that the m4 has been $99 quite recently, and it might still be for all I know. I would spend $99 on a 128gb m4 (77¢/gb) before I would spend $89 on most 120gb ssd's (74¢/gb).

And of much greater concern to me, is that as everybody knows, Mushkin's are built in Munchkinland. Those people kill ladies just for riding around on broomsticks with pretty slippers on. gg & gl.
 
I have been using the 240GB version of this Mushkin drive for 2 months now without any issues, frozen screen or BSODs. Works fine on my iMac hooked up to my Goflex Thunderbolt adapter.

I am thinking about getting a Vertex 4, but value for my dollar I know the performance gain on the Vertex 4 is not worth the $100 premium over the Mushkin SSD.
 
Last week I saw a Mushkin SSD for sale on Newegg at a great price, but when I read the first 10 or so reviews, 6 or 7 were very negative for that particular drive and a couple of the reviews mentioned DOA and failures within days of arrival of the drives. But that was the only time I've ever seen such a negative review of a Mushkin product.
 
I think it was the controller's Mushkin is using, SandForce (SF-2281). Because I saw those reviews as well when I was looking at SSDs before ordering my Samsung. I just don't care for Sandforce drives. The only see SSD's I see crapping out have Sandforce controllers.

Depending on the prices of the Mushkin drives I'll probably get around to ordering their 90GB model for one of my relatives' PCs.
