The 75GXP was the Deathstar. I have had no problems with several 60 GXPs. Hoepfully the 120s are as good.

I've had six 75GB Deathstars fail out of the eight I installed.
I had all four of the 45GB drives fail within six months.
However, the two 60GB GXP's are still running.

I really think there was something dastardly wrong with the 45 & 75GB drives.

You couldn't pay me to install a new IBM ever again.

newer IBM hard drives have an unfairly bad reputation. They're not as bad as the old ones. Almost as safe as Western Digital. Be that as it may, its still a very good price. About $1 a gig and no rebates

There is no such consumer HDD that doesn't have a chance of failing.

My 40GB 120GXP hasn't had a problem. 8 mths old. Quietest drive I've ever used.

True, all consumer HDD's may fail, but lately IBM is notorious for failing.
