" Fast, quiet and runs cool (newer models only)

I have two of these, one is an older DUA3 model, another the newer EVA0. DUA3 has 2 60Gb platters, EVA0 1.5 83Gb platters (i.e. only 3 heads). Both in service for 6 months now, no problems so far.

DUA3 runs quite hot to the touch and has no temperature sensor. EVA0 is 5-10% faster than DUA3 in benchmarks, and has a temperature sensor accessible through S.M.A.R.T. In my Antec 3700BQE case it runs around 34C (barely warm to the touch) in 20C room. EVA0 also exhibits less spindle noise.

When buying in store, look through the plastic case to see the model number printed on the drive itself. It does make a difference!"

Several Reviewers mentioned the drive catching fire and or just overheating and killing their systems. Looks like this reviewer knows the skinny ! Just a lookout . . .BTW Great price on a ? drive. . .
